Frequently asked questions.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • 1.           Open the illuno app and log in.

    2.           Create a new event by providing the date, summary of duties, and any additional notes/instructions.

    3.           Set up the schedule (date/time) and the number of officers needed.

    4.           Submit for Agency Review (if required in your area) or finalize event details and Post the shift(s).

    5.           Add a Payment Method (ACH or credit card) if you haven’t already, so the job(s) can go live.

Note: In some jurisdictions, local agencies/departments still require approval. If that’s the case, you’ll receive a notification when your event is approved; you can then post the event for officers to claim.

Within the Customer Portal, Customers can create Events and submit them directly to your coordinator for approval. This means that if your city had 500 off duty requests or jobs in a single day, our program could be managed by a single department coordinator. What would have taken 5 to 10 minutes before to create and publish a job in a standard off duty platform now takes less than 30 seconds for your coordinator to review and approve each Event.

  • •              No sign-up fees, and the app is free to download.

    •              You pay a fixed hourly rate (which may vary by location/demand) plus a $4.95 event fee.

    •              This rate is shown to you before you place your order—once scheduled, it does not change for that event.

Note: In rare instances where local regulations or departments impose additional charges (e.g., insurance fees, special rates), illuno will display these up front before you post.

  • •              Payment Methods: ACH (bank transfer) or credit card.

    •              Billing Timing: There are no upfront charges. You’re only charged after you have the chance to review and approve the officers’ timecard.

    •              Timecards (if used in your jurisdiction): Officers may log their time via in-app or separate timesheets, which you can review before payment is processed.

  • •              illuno’s fill rate is 99%+: newly posted shifts are typically claimed within minutes.

    •              If an officer cancels, the shift automatically reposts to all officers in the area.

    •              If a shift remains unfilled or the officer does not show, illuno waives those charges.

  • •              4 hours per shift, unless otherwise mandated by local rules.

  • •              Yes. If you have an ongoing need (e.g., weekly or monthly coverage), you can create recurring events in the app.

We understand that the goal of prepayment is to ensure that your officers get paid for the work that they do. That is why we require a validated payment method prior to any Customer submitting an Event request to your department.

  • •              In many states, officers can wear their official uniforms while working off-duty.

    •              Local regulations vary, and in some cases, uniforms may not be permitted. Officers are required to dress professionally regardless.

  • •              illuno can often fill shifts occurring in less than 24 hours if there are existing officers in your area. However, for best results, we recommend posting 2–3 days in advance.

  • •              illuno has a 24-hour cancellation policy: cancel at least 24 hours before the shift starts to avoid charges.

    •              If local rules differ (e.g., departmental cancellation windows), they will be shown prior to confirming your event.

  • •              Yes. illuno’s platform includes in-app messaging and provides the officer’s contact information once they claim your shift.
